Norwegian Cruise Line has announced its entry into the expedition cruise market with a series of Arctic voyages departing from Reykjavik, Iceland, beginning in June 2027. The 14-day itineraries will visit Svalbard, Greenland, and the remote Jan Mayen island aboard a new purpose-built expedition vessel.

The 300-passenger Norwegian Explorer will feature ice-strengthened hull construction, a fleet of Zodiac landing craft, and onboard marine biologists and polar historians. Cabins will include heated balconies designed for Arctic wildlife viewing.

Pricing starts at $8,500 per person for ocean-view cabins and $14,000 for suites with panoramic windows. Bookings open June 1, 2026, with Norwegian Cruise Line predicting strong demand from the growing adventure travel segment.
