Delta Air Lines has announced new nonstop service between Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Cape Town International Airport beginning October 15, 2026. The route will be served by the Airbus A350-900 and operate four times weekly, making Delta the only U.S. carrier offering direct flights between the southeastern United States and South Africa.
The 16-hour flight fills a significant gap in Delta's African route network and responds to growing demand for travel between the U.S. and southern Africa. Cape Town has emerged as one of the most popular long-haul destinations for American travelers, with visitor numbers from the U.S. increasing 45 percent since 2023.
Introductory round-trip fares start at $899 in Main Cabin and $3,200 in Delta One business class. Delta is also adding daily service from its Atlanta hub to Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria later this year as part of a broader expansion of its African network.
