United Airlines announced today the launch of its first-ever nonstop service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Tokyo Narita, beginning October 25, 2026. The route will operate three times weekly using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, making Austin the smallest US city with direct service to Japan and reflecting the Texas capital's growing importance as a tech and business hub.

Fares start at $899 round-trip in economy and $3,800 in United Polaris business class for introductory bookings made before June 30. The flight departs Austin at 12:40 PM and arrives in Tokyo at 4:55 PM the following day, with the return flight departing at 6:10 PM and arriving in Austin at 3:45 PM the same day thanks to favorable tailwinds.

Austin's tech industry, which includes major offices for Apple, Google, Tesla, and Samsung, has driven strong demand for transpacific travel. The city's convention and visitors bureau estimates the route will generate $180 million in annual economic impact. United already operates nonstop flights from Austin to London Heathrow and Amsterdam, and the Tokyo route further establishes the airport as an emerging international gateway.
