The TSA has expanded its digital identification program to 40 states, allowing travelers to use their smartphone's digital driver's license at airport security checkpoints instead of physical ID.
How It Works
Travelers with Apple Wallet or Google Wallet digital IDs can tap their phone at TSA checkpoints. The system verifies identity through encrypted biometric matching without storing personal data.
Wait times at participating airports have dropped by an average of 3 minutes per passenger.
Participating States
Major travel states including California, New York, Texas, and Florida are now included. The remaining 10 states are expected to join by year-end.
