Delta Air Lines has announced new nonstop service between Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Cape Town International Airport, beginning October 26, 2026. The route will operate four times weekly using the Airbus A350-900, with flights taking approximately 17 hours.

The new service fills a major gap in direct connectivity between the US and southern Africa. Currently, travelers must connect through European or Middle Eastern hubs to reach Cape Town from the eastern United States.

Introductory fares start at $899 round trip in economy and $3,200 in Delta One. The airline expects strong demand from both leisure and business travelers, with South Africa's tourism sector experiencing record growth in 2026.
