The Transportation Security Administration has reduced the cost of TSA PreCheck enrollment to $70 for a five-year membership, down from $85, as part of an initiative to increase participation and reduce overall security checkpoint wait times at US airports.
The price reduction coincides with the launch of a streamlined online renewal process that eliminates the need for in-person visits for existing members. New applicants can still enroll at over 500 locations nationwide or through a fully online identity verification process.
TSA reports that PreCheck members experience average wait times of under three minutes compared to 15 to 25 minutes in standard screening lanes during peak travel periods.
