Marriott International has opened the world's first fully underwater luxury hotel in the Maldives, featuring 20 suites submerged 30 feet below the Indian Ocean surface.

The Marriott Aqua Resort offers panoramic views of coral reefs from every room. Each suite features floor-to-ceiling curved glass panels, allowing guests to sleep surrounded by marine life.

Rates start at $3,500 per night with a minimum two-night stay. The property is already booked through December 2026.

Engineering Marvel

The hotel took six years and $800 million to build, using reinforced acrylic panels and a proprietary air circulation system.
